ARTISTS BIOGRAPHY Eddie Mormon, native of Southern United States, inspired at the age of 5, began his artistic career using smoothed out earth as his canvas with strong wooden sticks as the knives and twigs as brushes to etch the visions he so clearly saw in his mind into the dirt. At the age of 16, Mormon put his dreams and brushes away to follow his father’s footsteps on the docks, but the visions in his mind stayed strong. Fate delivered an opportunity for Mormon to again pick up his brushes and knives after a terrible waterfront accident. With no formal education, Mormon immediately began transferring the vibrant images he saw in his mind to canvas and has been producing accurate recreations of some of the world’s most famous impressionists in art history, like Vincent Van Gogh, Monet and Degas ever since. Using special knives, Mormon rises long before the sun each day inspired to begin the process of transforming his “visions” to canvas - creating beautiful works of art that inspire the soul, make the heart sing and hypnotically capture the eye. The first painting Mormon sold was of flowers he envisioned in his “mind’s eye” and transformed to canvas with a unique style. Using just two knives and a prayer for guidance, he allowed his hands to move at will to transfer his “vision” and created a truly beautiful painting. Working to develop this special technique of prayer and focus to transfer his inner visions onto canvas required great concentration and faith, but Mormon has mastered them and now produces more than 250 works of “Inspired Art” a year. Mormon’s first gallery showing was from the trunk of his car as he traveled throughout the Southeast, visiting friends and families of his loyal fans and supporters to show and sell his paintings. Since that time, he has traveled to many European cities including, Paris, France and Madrid, Spain to see original paintings of the artists who inspire much of his work. Mormon’s works have been displayed in galleries in many states throughout the United States including New York, Oregon, Texas and Louisiana. Mormon attributes the spark in his professional career to the full support he received from several local businesses and residents who helped promote his work worldwide and a feeling of “knowing” that this is what he is meant to do in life. “Painting is just like playing music, dancing or cooking, it comes from within. I am grateful to God for my special gifts and talents and hope that I continue to be blessed with the ability to bring to life on canvas the beautiful visions I see in my mind’s eye each evening after I retire.”
