The gold leaf is applied "freehand" by skilled artisans. She uses historically correct pigments, which are the same as those used in ancient Pompeiian and Egyptian frescoes. The ground semiprecious stones used in these pigments contain naturally occurring crystalline particles that refract light in a way that no synthetic pigment can achieve. When light is refracted through them, the result is an amazing luminosity and brilliance of color.This vase is an amazing example of this achievement. It makes a real statement. It's not really noticeable as this vase is overwhelmingly empowering. It stands 21-3/8" high by 9-1/4" in diameter on top and stands on a 6" diameter foot. Naturally, it's signed by Lesley, as shown.   Packed shipping weight is about 8 lbs with extra packing. If you are local to the NYC Metro area, hand delivery can be arranged. SHIPPING: I ship only via priority mail insured with extra packing for glass, fragile items and items of greater value. A return signature receipt confirmation card will be included with this item. For large items not suitable for priority mail, I use parcel post insured.  I use media mail for printed matter and books. On international orders, I use priority mail international with insurance or registered first class international mail. For lightweight items, below 11 ounces, I will use first class mail only if you are willing to accept the risk of loss.
