Much to our amazement the female went directly into the barrel and has only come out for very short intervals.  I have sold these barrels for other uses besides breeder boxes for birds. They make very good nest type boxes for Monkeys.  They make excellent quarters for any type of animal that likes to burrow or live in small caves and crevices or hollowed out trees. These are hand made all wooden barrels.  They are made with one inch thick slats.  The barrel is 25 inches in diameter and 36 inches long. The bird entrance measures 6 inches by 9 inches.  The observation door has heavy hinges and a lockable latch, it measures a full 10 inches by 14 inches.  I do make these barrels in other sizes for smaller birds or other types of animals.  I may be listing other sizes at a later date.  If you need a different size contact me about those listings.  I don't keep very many barrels on hand they are made to order so there may be a 7 day wait as I build yours.  The good part about making them to order is that if the customer has a special request such as a different size door or any number of minor changes that will make the barrel meet the needs of the birds.  If you need several barrels we can work out a quite lucrative multiple item discount.  These barrels are built quite heavy for strength and for protection of your birds.  In the shipping details of this listing I put that this item is for local pickup only but it can be shipped!  Please contact me for delivery information.
