Description
BREW HORIZONS Wine Starter Kit Attractively boxed for easy gift giving, this kit includes all of the equipment that you will need to make 6 gallons of outstanding wine. You provide ingredients, 30 standard wine bottles & the water. Starter Kit includes: 7.8 gallon Primary Fermenter w/lid & drilled for spigotYou will start your wine in this container. When your wine is completely finished you can move it back here to bottle. The spigot on the bucket makes bottling a snap. 6 gallon Glass Carboy (Secondary Fermenter)The wine is transferred to the carboy for the final stages of fermentation, further settling and continued ageing. The smaller size and tapered neck keeps the surface area of the wine as small as possible, preventing unnecessary contact with air. This is important at this stage. Carboy Cleaning BrushAbsolutely necessary for cleaning the hard to reach areas of your glass jug.Stirring PaddleGreat for making sure your ingredients are evenly mixed. A smaller flat surface on the handle end fits easily into the neck of the glass jug. 3-pc Fermentation/Air lockThis device, when partially filled with water, allows gases to escape during fermentation while preventing the outside air from entering your Fermenter. Drilled Rubber Stopper by Buon-VinoÔThis allows you to move the airlock from your Primary Fermenter to your Secondary Fermenter (Glass Carboy.) Unlike standard gum rubber laboratory stoppers, the Buon-Vino is specifically designed for wine making. It’s design makes for an easy tight fit, without the worry of accidentally pushing it all the way into the carboy neck. Fast-Flow Spigot (for primary fermenter)This allows your Primary Fermenter to be used as a bottling bucket when you wine is finished. 5' of ½” Siphon TubingThis will be used when siphoning your wine from the Primary to the Secondary and then later to the Bottling Bucket. The larger than normal diameter shortens transfer times. Curved Siphon Stem (26" x 1/2"dia.)This rigid tube makes is easier to control the end of your tubing when transferring. A specially designed tip helps prevent picking up excessive sediment should the siphon tube touch the bottom of the container during transfer.Bottle Filler (15" x 1/2"dia.)Attach this to one end of your siphon tubing and the other to the spigot on your bucket and you are ready to bottle. When the tip of the filler is touched the wine begins to flow. Lift it out of the bottle and the flow stops.Bottle Cleaning BrushSince most of our customers reuse bottles, we have found this to be very helpful in making sure that your bottles are perfectly clean. Gilda - Three Lever CorkerThis is the item that makes our kit different from most others. Instead of providing a $5 hand corker that requires you to pound the corks into the bottles, while hoping to not break them, we’ve provided what we feel is one of the top-of-the-line home corkers. The nylon iris allows you to easily compress a properly soaked cork to a smaller diameter than the bottles neck opening. The corker is then positioned over the bottle and the corks is inserted with minimal effort. It will easily insert properly soaked #8 and full size #9 x 1-3/4” corks. This corker sells for $29.95 in our store. 30 Wine Corks (#8 x 1 1/2") Enough for 6 gallons of wine when using standard 750ml wine bottles. Hydrometer Keep track of your wines progress with this triple scale hydrometer. This will help you determine how much of your grape juice has been converted to alcohol by measuring the change in density. Hydrometer Test Jar This 10" tall plastic vessel makes for simple hydrometer. Simply fill the test jar with your sample and drop in the hydrometer. C-Brite Sanitizer 8 packets of C-Brite. Each packet makes 2 gallons of sanitizer. Keep everything clean & sanitized to get the highest quality finished product. Enjoy Home Winemaking, Book This 32-page introductory book will take you step by step through the wine making process. Most wine ingredient kits come with excellent instructions. This book will complement them and give you a better idea of what is happening at each step of the process. What Else Will I Need? Ingredients – Brew Horizons offers a complete line of grape juice concentrates. These wine kits have been adjusted to the proper sugar content and acid balanced to consistently produce outstanding wine. We regularly stock RJ Spagnol’s Vino del Vida Grape Juice Concentrates, available in the following styles: Chambalise (Chablis), Chardonnay/Semillion, Chenin Blanc, French Columbard, Fume Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Johannesburg Riesling, Liebfraumilch, Piesporter, Verdicchio, Australian Chardonnay, Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, Italian Pinot Gregio, Washington Riesling, White Zinfandel, California White Merlot, Barolo, Bergamais(Beaujolais), Bordailles Rouge(Red Bordeaux), Bourgeron Rouge(Red Burgundy), Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet/Shiraz, Chianti, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Vieux Chateau du Roi(Chateauneuf du Pape), Red Zinfandel, Australian Shiraz, Chilean Cabernet/Merlot, and Italian Valpolicella. We can also easily special order more styles by RJ Spagnol’s. Prices range from $1.99 to $2.50 per bottle for this line of kits. See our eBay Store for styles ready for immediate shipment. Most styles not in the store can ship in 3 to 4 business days. Just let us know what you’d like. Want to make up some of your own recipes? Pick up a copy of the Winemaker’s Recipe Handbook for some great ideas. Bottles – Our six-gallon kits will yield approximately 30 standard (750ml) bottles of wine. Brand new wine bottles are not necessary. Many of our customers save bottles from their store-bought wines and collect them from friends, avoiding the purchase of new bottles altogether. Since wine is not carbonated, it does not require any special packaging to handle excessive pressure. It is only necessary to store the wine in a full container that limits the surface area and contact with air. This can be any size wine bottle or even gallon juice jugs. Another available alternative to bottles is FermTech’s Wine-On-Tap system. Instead of filling bottles, you store your wine in 2 to 3 oxygen barrier bags. The wine is ready “On Tap” when you would like a glass. The bag collapses as you serve, keeping damaging air away from your wine. Visit: http://www.brewhorizons.net/WineOnTap.htm for more information. Water – Most of our six-gallon (23 liter) kits provide about 7 liters of grape juice concentrate. Once you add the concentrate to your primary fermenter you will then need to add enough water to bring the volume to a full six gallons. Any water you enjoy drinking will be fine. How Long Does It Take? Most of our wine kits can be ready to bottle in as little as four weeks. However, many of our customers find that a little additional time for settling helps a great deal. While you are waiting for your wine to ferment and settle out, it will need very little attention. It will require at least one transfer from your primary to secondary fermenter and some stirring, at least once, to help remove any CO2 bubbles left in the wine from fermentation. At the end you will need to set aside a couple of hours for bottling and clean up. This is all a relatively simple process that will yield outstanding wine that you will want to share with your family and friends. Is It Expensive? NO, Not at all! We like to point this out to our customers: If you buy a Brew Horizons Wine Starter Kit, a Vino del Vida Wine Kit, and brand new wine bottles, make wine one time and throw everything away, you will have spent less than $8 per bottle for great wine. Of course, as you probably guessed, the idea is to keep the equipment and use it over and over again. The prices of the ingredient kits alone typically range from $2.00 to $4.00 per bottle, depending on variety and packaging. SHIPPING - Brew Horizons does not try to make a profit on shipping. Most shipping charges are taken right off the UPS chart and are computed using the items actual weight, rounded up to the nearest whole pound, as opposed to some exaggerated shipping weight. The only exception to this would be items that require special packaging, to prevent damage during shipment, such as glass or liquid yeast. It is our goal to ship all orders, no later than the third business day after payment clears. If for any reason, we cannot do this, you will be contacted with the expected ship date. If this date is unacceptable, you will be offered a full refund at no consequence. Using PayPal Instant Payment will result in the fasted shipping. BUYING MORE THAN 1 ITEM? - The way we compute our shipping charges saves you BIG $$$ on multiple item purchases. Any items that can be safely shipped together will be. Just request an invoice for your items & we will send one along. Send any questions via contact link or to carl@brewhorizons.net This Starter Kit is also available with a Better BottleÔ PET Plastic Carboy, in our eBay Store Check out my other items!
