This is an imported Satsuki Azalea variety known as Osaka.  This tree has an incredible flaired nebari and fat, tapered trunk.  It is compact with super branch placement.  It puts out small, hot pink flowers with rounded petals in May. It has a 4.5" flaired base and a 2.5" trunk above the base.  It stands only 6" tall from the soil.  Housed in a 6.5"x5"x2" glazed bonsai pot (with small crack). This is a super shohin satsuki azalea.
