Quartered/Rift Oak with Traditional Mortise & Tenon joinery throughout.This is one of the most complex and challenging pieces that our shop makes.   The seat is 13" X 12". This is a little larger than one would expect for an infant. We have done this to allow it to be used as a YOUTH seat for several years after it has past its usefulness as a true high chair. Included wit this chair, FREE,  are leather bolsters and cushions that fit perfectly in the space, for a smaller child. The chair exceeds all of the mandatory and voluntary Federal guidelines for high chairs. Common sense and recommendations by experts are that children never be left unattended in a high chair. The safety strap provides all of the safety possible to engineer into a piece such as this. We recommend that no child under 8 months of age be placed in the chair. It can be washed and recoated occasionally for durability and water resistance. The top of the arms are 29" from the ground, allowing it to slide under most tables, and be used as a youth chair with the tray removed. We have used the best hardware available for the securing and removal of the tray. Used as a youth chair, it will provide many years of sitting at the table, like an adult. When all of the utilitarian purpose has been extracted from this chair, and it is waiting for another generation, it can grace a corner or a side of some room and will have few equals in its beauty. The chair is constructed entirely of carefully selected and matched quarter/rift oak. It is finished with highest grade vinyl sealer and lacquer, hand rubbed to produce a exceptional finish that is both beautiful and very durable. The tray is cherry, and it IS FINISHED WITH WAX ONLY.This allows you to rewax it periodically, and is the safest finish available. Our finish is SECOND TO NONE...IT IS DEEP, RICH, AND LUXURIOUS.We wet every part, and the finished piece with hot water many times, and sand them, before staining. This raises the grain several times, and guarantees the finish will still be as elegant in 100 years as it is now.... As with any seating.....one must be mindful of the childs propensity to test limits.This chair is as solid and stable as any available.....but, caution is always in order,and no child should be left unattended. REMOVE THE HIGH CHAIR HARDWARE FROM THE ARMS, FOR A BEAUTIFUL YOUTH CHAIR We finish all of our work using Water Soluble Aniline Dyes for a crystal clear, deep color. Aniline dyes are known for their deep rich color, absolute clarity, and colorfastness. Water based Aniline Dyes are hard to master, and almost never used commercially.But they produce a depth and clarity that is recognized as unmatchable. Between each coat of the stain, sealer, glaze,sealer,and three coats of lacquer, we sand the piece with 320 grit for a FINISH THAT IS AS WONDERFUL TO FEEL AS IT IS TO SEE..........FINALLY, We HAND RUB the entire piece with rubbing lubricant and FINE Scotchbrite pads for a JADE SMOOTH FINISH. ..... The chair is constructed entirely of Quartersawn / Riftsawn Oak.It has a dark brown, "Italian Oak" finish. The tray is made of CHERRY. CHERRY IS KNOWN FOR ITS DURABILITY AND EASE OF CLEANING.
